New integration Advances Security and
Compliance across Complex Multi-Cloud Workloads
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – April 26, 2018– HyTrust announced today that its market-leading CloudAdvisor product now includes fine-grained visibility and insight for cloud data availability solutions from Veeam Softwarethrough new product integration efforts. Now, HyTrust CloudAdvisor for Availability and CloudAdvisor for Data integrate with all Veeam products to offer data and file analysis, search and discovery, data categorization, sensitive data detection and user and file auditing across complex multi-cloud workloads. The integrated solution provides breakthrough content-level awareness for globally implemented workloads protected by Veeam solutions, including physical storage locations.
“With ever-increasing compliance and security requirements, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), it is no longer realistic to store and protect data in a one-size-fits-all, unclassified manner,” said David Siles, vice president of business development at HyTrust. “Enterprises and organizations must understand what they are storing or restoring and treat the content appropriately. With the new integration between HyTrust CloudAdvisor and Veeam cloud data availability solutions, customers can more easily comply with changing and complex requirements.”
“Data availability is not optional for enterprises; it’s critical to the overall success of the business,” said Danny Allan, vice president of product strategy at Veeam. “Visibility and insight into the extensive quantities of data an enterprise maintains is essential for availability of that data. We are excited that HyTrust is delivering solutions to help customers classify and protect workloads based upon the data in them.”
GDPR—which becomes enforceable with heavy penalties starting May 2018—demands that businesses and organizations treat data involving EU citizens in a specific manner. Various countries and regions have their own requirements. Knowing the country of origin as well as the type of information stored are becoming essential requirements. Often, there are stipulations of where data can and cannot be kept. It is also important to understand whether data may involve health care details, credit card information or other personally identifying information and to treat it according to differentiated requirements.
The integrated solution from HyTrust and Veeam goes well beyond basic file search at the meta-data level to enable a globally federated search catalog to the file content level. With such fine-grained visibility and awareness, organizations can better manage their data and comply with shifting laws and regulations.
HyTrust CloudAdvisor is deployed as a virtual appliance within virtualization environments, integrating fully with VMs, Active Directory and storage-based snapshots. Within minutes of activation, CloudAdvisor discovers the VM inventory and delivers initial results of its ongoing analysis. From then on, it monitors, tracks and analyzes data-access patterns, data usage and file content across all VMs under management. CloudAdvisor provides results that are optimized for data visualization, exploration and wizard-based workflows. The intuitive web-based interface—designed for IT operations, security and governance professionals—allows users to search, navigate and discover new insights in seconds. Meanwhile, pre-set alerts can notify interested parties of security concerns, suspicious activities and compliance violations.
